Day to Day Job Description:
Acting as the Network operations engineer responsible for restoring service within the agreed upon customer SLA. This role calls for the individual to understand the working of the core MPLS based backbone supporting multiple client , fixing issues and among other things how to reroute customer traffic when possible to restore service.
Also the Network engineer will be responsible for coordinating hardware RMA s as required and to open a ticket with the carriers and ensuring that it s resolved. Service restoral includes the coordination and collaborative troubleshooting of layer 1 through layer 7 issues with multiple circuit providers, other internal support teams, application support staff, and co-lo (hosting) providers.
The Network engineer must be proactive and he should be able to take the lessons learnt from outages or other wise and suggest proactive steps and discuss with the architecture and engineering teams to avoid similar outages in the future.
